The textile industry is broken. As one of the largest polluters in the world, the fashion industry is known for some of its damages to the planet. Waste is piling up, resources are being lost, and circularity still feels like an exception rather than the norm.
India is a major player in the global textile industry, both as a producer and exporter. With rising demand and fast fashion’s rapid growth, textile waste has become a critical issue—India alone generated an estimated 7.2 million tonnes of textile waste in 2021–22 (source).
As our work has evolved from understanding supply chains and materials to rethinking textile waste value chain entirely, we have gone beyond just building ventures—we are transforming an industry.
While post-production waste is somewhat managed, post-consumer waste—making up 51% of the total—is rarely collected, sorted, or processed for recycling. Without proper systems, valuable materials are lost, and much of this waste ends up in landfills or incinerators. Addressing this challenge is key to reducing environmental harm and unlocking circular economy opportunities.
At Enviu Textiles, we are here to change that—by building ventures that prove circularity is not just possible but scalable and profitable.
